Abstract

Background:

Foot drop is a disabling condition resulting in impaired foot dorsiflexion, often due to traumatic or neurological  causes. Surgical interventions such as tendon transfer are considered when conservative approach and management fails to restore functional mobility.

Case Presentation and Management:

Two patients with painless foot drop of different etiologies were managed at Swat Medical Complex and Teaching Hospital Saidu Sharif Swat, KPK, PAK. One of the Patients developed peripheral neuropathy following chemotherapy while the other patient had a traumatic sciatic nerve injury. Both Patient’s underwent tendon transfer(tibialis posterior)  using a two-sling technique, resulting in improved gait and dorsiflexion.

Conclusion:  Tibialis posterior tendon transfer is a reliable and effective option for restoring function in Patients with painless foot drop.
